This is the year of truth. I keep saying it is all right to not be all right because the feeling you feel when you are not all right, is all right. What makes you despise it, is that you despise it. Just think about this deeply for a moment.
There is this thing called mindfulness that at the core simply means keeping your mind in the moment before you. Pay attention to this, this now. Where are you? In the past? In the future? Or here. Here is where the truth is even though you may not like it. But if you can stay with it, if only for a day, then you will have stayed with your truth without shame.
I am convinced this is what it is all about—being 100% alive in this now. Even if it is not feeling so perfect. If you can lay down in it and accept the truth of your human for feeling what it’s feeling, then you will discover a compassion for your being.
We struggle because we have disconnected from Mother Nature and thus disconnected from our own nature. Our “true nature”—which is a human with highs and lows. Neither of which is bad, neither of which is worth numbing. Deal with it now or deal with it the rest of your life. Emotions come on their own. They will leave on their own once they are known.
It is our nature. Just like Mother Nature we need to work with it, not against it.
I believe the reason we are disconnected from each other is because we are not facing these truths. We dumb down our emotions with distraction, television, drugs and food. Those low feelings are what teach us what it is like to be in the dumps and if you numb it, then you have just numbed the teacher of love.
To have compassion for yourself in your truth is to learn what it feels like to be in another’s shoes. How many of your friends will stay with you when you are low and just let you cry and cry and cry? How many doctors will listen to your story? Or would they rather drug you to numb you from your truth? Because like their pain they can’t stand in authentically, they can’t stand to be in yours with you.
Be your own best friend. Love yourself through. Pat yourself on the back for staying in your truth.
This is the year of truth. The truth of your being includes both good and negative feelings. It is all right to not be all right. What makes you despise it, is that you despise it. Just think about this deeply for a moment…
