Spirituality is not about leading others to believe what I think. And it is certainly not about following what another believes. Thoughts are mostly wrong. And beliefs are simply those wrong thoughts that you have thought long enough.
Many practices teach a “no think” philosophy. Perhaps this is because the brain is a warning system producing some 60,000 thoughts a day, most of them negative and wrong. It’s just a warning—If you believe the thought, guess what sets in? FEAR.
I treat my fearful thoughts now like I would if someone jokingly jumped out of a hiding place to scare me. The fear rushes over me but then there is intense laughter in the realization that I am okay. Your thoughts are that irrelevant! You are okay. Control by fear is the easy way.
Maybe this is why so many religions use aversive conditioning instilling a fear of god. Maybe this is why government…
